About Me

My photo
I'm finally moving towards owning my own painting company, after wanting one of almost 25 years. I've been gaining experience of painting for others for years, which I've truly enjoyed. I'm back in school, earning another degree, but this time in Business. By having the knowledge of the behind the scenes in business, I feel I'll have a greater advantage in direction I'm headed. I look forward to overcoming obstacles and moving toward my goal of being a successful business owner. The purpose of the blog is to track my progress, from overcoming my fears, to tracking my successes.

Have your Umbrella in Hand?

By some of your comments, I have no other choice but to post a blog! I believe I jinxed myself when I asked my sister why she didn't post as often as I would like for her to. I understand why! Saturday I went to RS Leadership. It was great. Afterwards, I gave Walmart $330.00 for two weeks of food and then some. Has anyone else notice the rising prices of groceries? Our utility bill came in the ther day and it was $271.00! Ouch! It has never been that high and it hasn't been too cold the last month either. Last Monday I filled up at $2.85 and I have watched the price go up to $3.11 in one week! It is the highest ever in Alabama. I believe last week crude oil soared over $100.00 a barrel, therefore putting the burden back on us, the tax payers. Because corn is being sold to make alternative gasoline, wheat fields are getting the shaft by being replaced with corn. We were told in our leadership meeting that one year from now, the USA will be importing their wheat and that it could cause a depression. (I'm depressed just thinking about it!) Last week on the national news, I saw a report about wheat and how other countries are stockpiling their flour and wheat and having their armies gaurd this stockpile. Also, they said that they will not allow any flour/wheat to leave their country. Does this bother anyone? In that same report, they were interviewing a bakery and the owner said that last year a 50 lbs of flour was $15.00 and now it has risen to $40.00!!!! Everyone is feeling this "crunch". We will know if we are in a recession on March 30. I hope everyone is saving for a "rainy day", because the evidence is all around us. Get your umbrellas ready!

Yea....thank goodness you posted because I was getting really annoyed each time I came to your blog and it was the same thing! hardy-har har!!

I didn't know flour was that high! Wow! I just hate how much we paid to have our taxes done but am glad they were done right! I need to get my umbrella out and make sure it is still working. We haven't pulled it out in so long I am afraid it is broken!

Thanks for a sobering post! Our world has gone so crazy. We are really living in the last days. If you go on LDS.org, and get on provident living, the distribution center is offering a starter kit or one can of wheat, one of rice, one of beans and some other stuff for about $26.00. It lasts one person one or three months, I don't remember which. We are thinking about getting some, if the price is right.

I'm glad we have our wheat and a handy wheat grinder. I don't have an umbrella though. It doesn't rain here in the desert much (ha)
Yeah, it is all very depressing. Do you watch Jericho? I picture that as how life would be.
